The Ruhunu Sailing Association organized Dr. Nihal Jinasena Memorial Sailing Regatta 2025 successfully concluded at Kapparatota, Mirissa Sea Front on February 1st Mrs Jinasena, presiding as chief guest.
This year’s Regatta saw a record number of 56 sailors with 44 boats fighting for medals in seven classes. The navy, clubs as well as school children specially from Jaffna & Mirissa participated in the various events open for both men and women. All sailors sailed 6 races, discarding their worst performance. The remaining results were averaged for their final tally.
The GP14, Enterprise, Windsurfing and ILCA 7 Classes were won by Sri Lanka Navy, and the ILCA 4 Class was won by Yusef Hazari of Royal Collge Colombo.Miss Taalya Tranchell of Ladies College, Colombo won the ILCA 6 and Haren Wickramatillake of S.Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia won the Optimist Class (Under 15 event).
